I've been suffering with bad back pain, neck pain and headaches for a really long time. My overall posture had significantly deteriorated while working from home during the lockdown. It got to the point that I struggled to go for a long walk without a pain in my body. I approached Tara for the Alexander technique sessions back in May. We started with the AT six weeks program and I was extremely surprised at seeing improvements in my posture & pain reduction after just couple sessions! Even my partner noticed the difference. 6 weeks from undoing bad habits to learning how to release tensions and moving my body in new way. Each session was personally designed to my needs. Tara approach is very gentle, holistic and practical. Now I have tools I can practice in my own time. I've decided to continue with another 6 weeks AT session with Tara incorporating Hypnotherapy as well as the benefits of Alexander Technique are endless! Now, I am walking with ease! I have even done 10km hike without any problems. I would strongly recommend to book Tara for at least 6 session to get best benefits of Alexander Technique and not only.

Before I started my sessions with Tara, I felt that I was becoming increasingly stuck in a cycle of anxious and negative thoughts. My sleep was poor and my energy levels had ground to a halt. I had lost motivation to engage in simple everyday things and knew it was time to find a positive way forward. I started Alexander Lessons with Tara to work on my terrible posture which has bugged me for years.
I had tried in vain to correct this by forcing myself to ‘stand up straight’ (usually after catching view of myself in profile in the mirror).
I had a vague understanding that Alexander technique could help but wasn’t sure how.
I assumed that better posture was something that came from increased core strength or sustained effort.
Thankfully this misconception was quickly dispelled. Correcting my posture would be a lot easier than I thought but it wouldn’t change overnight. The key was in a conscious ‘ungripping’ and trusting the spine to align itself and letting go of my misguided attempts to strain it this way or that.
I have been having regular lessons for several months and it is definitely something I plan to continue for the foreseeable future.
The classes combine aspects of yoga and mindfulness which I find incredible relaxing and meditative.
